The funeral of Kevin Adie, a firefighter of 34 years and a community worker, at the Hastings Fire Station, Hastings. At the end of the service he was carried away on a vintage trailer pump and Dennis Fire engine for a circuit of the Hawke's Bay Hospital.

Hypothermia victims Marie Cresswell and Clive Cresswell from Tolaga Bay were rescued at 3am by police, LandSAR, (Land Search and Rescue) and the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter, after activating their Personal Locator Beacon in the Ruahine Ranges between Sparrow Hawk Spur and Colenso Spur.
